Magnum Hire and Equipment move to new digs

21 Dec 2011 / 0 Comments / in Uncategorized/by admin

The new Magnum Hire premise has allowed the amalgamation of all staff into one building, increasing efficiencies and improving working practices “We are delighted with our move, which has allowed us to remain at the heart of The Concourse in Henderson”, (West Auckland) ensuring easy access to all main motorways North, West, South, East and Central Auckland where our customers need us on site.

There are several crucial factors that have led to Magnum Hire’s move to bigger more open planned premises. Undoubtedly, one is the service which is specifically focused to cater to the ever growing construction and infrastructure works taking place in the greater Auckland region.

Certainly the first impression you gain when talking to the people at Magnum Hire is one of genuine friendliness – these are honest, down to earth, good-natured Kiwi operators always prepared to go the extra distance for their clients and each other. The philosophy of the company is neatly summed-up in their mission statement: ‘We operate the Kiwi way, for our customers’ also expressed in the fact that all shareholders are also company employees – both Liam Field & Bill Walker continue to drive the Magnum vision as company directors.

“Over the past 8 years our clients have supported us throughout and have been the driving force in the company’s growth” says Liam, “and this new premise certainly demonstrates our long term commitment to being here for our valued customers”.

One of the main driving forces behind Magnum’s growth has been the exceptional work ethic from Magnums staff, none more so than Dave Parker – Magnum Hire Manager. In the three years Dave has been at Magnum he has built a strong customer base on excellent service, hard work, honesty and most importantly integrity. In this day and age when a man’s word means less than the paper it is written on, Dave stands by his and his customers can rely on that, which is why Magnum’s business has seen double the growth in turnover since his arrival from Porter Hire in 2008. Considering the slow economy over the past three years Dave’s achievements have been exceptional.

Another key criteria for moving to bigger premises is to create better efficiencies in three key areas of running a Hire business

  1. Workshop expansion – Magnum’s new workshop at 900sq metres is twice the size of its old one and allows for more work to be undertaken on its fleet ensuring faster turnaround times on servicing equipment which means less down time and more availability to our valued clients.
  2. Equipment Yard expansion – Magnum now has 4000sq metres to holds its fleet of earthmoving machines in, this is 5 times the size of their previous yard.
  3. Wash Bay expansion – A new purpose built Wash Bay means Magnum’s equipment will be cleaner faster and back out to site in shorter time.

Deihl Tyrell – Workshop Manager & Head Mechanic (assisted by the extremely versatile Deane Pownall), has been with Magnum Hire & Magnum Equipment since 2008 and has been an integral part of the company’s growth and development. Deihl and all the team in the workshop now have the space and equipment to function more efficiently which increases the quality of work being done and also reduces the risks associated with working in confined spaces. The overall work flow is already noticeably better than Magnum’s old premise’s.

One further key criteria to moving to bigger premises was the need for a more effective transport loading area with plenty of space to maneuver our machines around safely and effectively. Our senior transporter Dave Ivicevich (assisted in dispatch by the hard working Tony Keresoma) is a true professional in all aspects of his job. Dave is Magnum Hire’s key link between the company and its customers and there is no better man for fronting this important Customer service role. Magnum Hire transports 95% of all its hire equipment onto site for our clients. Working around different construction and road sites it is imperative all Health & Safety workplace policies are followed to the highest degree and having Dave Ivicevich at the helm Magnum’s customers are in safe hands

With the upcoming launch of the Magnum Hire website the company intends on bringing its clients & staff closer together with the use of many online applications that can assist with the better communications & more efficient ways of looking after sales and administration.

Looking ahead to the future, Liam says the company will keep the foot on the pedal and continue the strong growth.”We want to get bigger and be a true alternative to the larger national groups by concentrating on growing our market share within the greater Auckland area where 90% of our business is derived from. By focusing on doing a better job for our existing clients we hope to cement long term relationships that is the key to our success.
